My name is Noam Levy, I am 29, living in Tel Aviv and I have just graduated a bachelor's degree in fashion design at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Ramat Gan.

I feel fashion design studies until now were roller coaster that opened me up to new worlds, and new people without whom my life would not look the same.

 

I come from a background of art studies and from a very artistic and liberal home. For me fashion design studies are a direct continuation of this process. And so my inspiration is often drawn from art, philosophy, and social issues that I think are relevant to the world in which we live in.

 

I feel that the studies helped me sharpen my personal style and understand what interests me in this big world called fashion. I feel that for me fashion is the best way to express myself. Fashion moves me, and as far as I'm concerned it sets a mirror in front of the world in which we live. It was my studies that opened my eyes to the direct connection between fashion and the social and environmental processes in the world. In the end we all live in our clothes, and this combination of functional and artistic is what fascinates me.

 

Another thing I have understood throughout my studies is that working with people is something that activates and improves me. And this is something I would like to incorporate in the future. In the end, what creates the most meaningful experience in my studies are the people who study with me and the teachers who teach me. Every person we meet changes something and opens us to other worlds.

Throughout my studies I specialized sewing, pattern making, draping technics, screen printing, embroidery,Browswear\Optitex, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

אני מרגישה שלימודי עיצוב אופנה עד עכשיו היו רכבת הרים שפתחה אותי לעולמות חדשים, ולאנשים חדשים שבלעדיהם התואר הזה  והחיים שלי לא היו נראים אותו הדבר.

 

אני מגיעה מרקע של לימודי אומנות ומבית מאוד אומנותי וליברלי. מבחינתי לימודי עיצוב אופנה הם המשך ישיר לתהליך הזה. ולכן את נושאי ההשראה שלי אני שואבת פעמים רבות מאומנות, פילוסופיה ונושאים חברתיים אשר רלוונטים בעיני לעולם בו אנו חיים.

 

אני מרגישה שהלימודים עזרו לי לחדד את הסגנון האישי שלי ולהבין מה מעניין אותי בתוך העולם הגדול הזה שנקרא אופנה. אני מרגישה שבשבילי אופנה היא הדרך הטובה ביותר לבטא את עצמי. אופנה מרגשת אותי, ומבחינתי היא מציבה מראה אל מול העולם שאנחנו חיים בו. הלימודים היו אלה שפתחו את עיני לקשר הבילתי נפרד בין אופנה לתהליכים החברתיים והסביבתיים בעולם. בסופו של דבר כולנו חיים בתוך בגדים, והשילוב הזה בין הפונקציונאלי לאומנותי הוא מה שמרתק אותי.

 

דבר נוסף שלמדתי לאורך הלימודים זה שעבודה עם אנשים זה משהו שמפעיל אותי ומשפר אותי. וזה משהו שהייתי רוצה לשלב בחיי גם העתיד. בסופו של דבר מה שיוצר את החוויה המשמעותית בלימודים הם האנשים שלומדים איתי והמורים שמלמדים אותי. כל אדם שאנחנו פוגשים משנה בנו משהו ופותח אותנו לעולמות נוספים.
