Willendorf Breaks The Internet - ונוס שוברת את האינטרנט

הקולקציה עוסקת במתח שבין המסורת לעכשווי דרך שני דימויים: ונוס מווילנדורף, המייצגת את המסורת, לצד שער המגזין PAPER בו מככבת קים קרדשיאן, המייצגת את העכשווי. שני הדימויים מייצגים שני זרמים המתקיימים במקביל בחברה והם תרבות נמוכה ותרבות גבוהה. המאבק הזה מייצר מתח ומעלה שאלות, כגון: מה נכון, יפה, מוסרי או איכותי?

באופנה, המסורת מתבטאת דרך עולם החייטות והתפירה העילית והעכשווי מתבטא על ידי האופנה המהירה ובראשה המותג  Fashion Nova, אשר צמח מתוך תרבות הקניונים בארצות הברית ומייצג את הנמוך, הזול, האגרסיבי, והטראשי, ולא מתנצל על כך לרגע. הקולקציה היא קולקציית בגדי נשים המשתמשת בטכניקות וחומרים מעולם החייטות והאופנה המהירה.

המתח בין המסורת לעכשווי רלוונטי בעיני אפילו יותר בעקבות משבר הקורונה. אולי לאופנה מהירה כבר אין לגיטימציה בעולם החדש שאנחנו יוצאים אליו, והחזרה אל המסורת, בגדים איכותיים ו-slow fashion היא הפיתרון. מה שבטוח, אנחנו צריכים לחשב מסלול מחדש.   

 

The collection deals with the tension between tradition and contemporary through two images: Venus from Willendorf alongside the cover of PAPER magazine, which stars Kim Kardashian. Both images represent two streams that coexist in society, low culture and high culture. This struggle creates tension and raises questions, such as: What is true, beautiful, moral and high-quality?

In fashion, tradition is expressed through the world of tailoring and couture while contemporary is expressed by fast-fashion and the brand  Fashion Nova, which emerged  through the mall culture in the United States and represents the low, cheap, aggressive, and trashy, and does not apologize for it for a moment. The collection is a women's clothing collection that uses techniques and materials from the world of tailoring and fast fashion.

The tension between tradition and contemporary is even more relevant following the Corona crisis. Perhaps fast fashion no longer has legitimacy in the new world we embark on, and a return to tradition, quality clothing and slow fashion is the solution. What is certain, we need to recalculate our steps.
